Alabama mom devastated as toddler son suffers multiple bites at daycare – US News – News

An Alabama mother is reeling after her toddler son returned from daycare covered in bite marks. Amy Stewart received a distressing midday call from the daycare director informing her of her child’s injuries, prompting her to leave work immediately.

Upon arriving, she realized the situation was dire.

Very busy parents rely on childcare to take care of their children, though some of these caretakers can cause more harm than good.

“I immediately left work and went to him. When I made it there, it was a lot worse than what I thought,” Stewart relayed her ordeal to Fox affiliate WALA.

Stewart was presented with a report detailing how her son was attacked while playing on a slide; he was pushed aside by other kids, who then began biting him.

“The other kids pushed him out of the way and started biting him,” the document explained.

“I’m still in shock. I can’t believe it happened,” said a shocked Stewart.

In other news, a couple has sacrificed their entire wedding savings to rescue an abandoned dog they found ‘left for dead’ at the roadside. Meanwhile, a discarded cigarette butt has led to the resolution of a 40-year-old murder case involving an Indiana steelworker.

After rushing her son to the ER, Stewart discovered that the bites spanned his entire body. Physicians assessed the child had suffered multiple bites on his face, hands, and, more severely, on his backside and leg.

“I’m still in shock. I can’t believe it happened,” Stewart repeated her disbelief.

Faced with this traumatic event, Stewart is now demanding answers about how such an incident could have occurred. The childcare facility described giving her son an “ice pack and love” and noted in their report that they informed Stewart via phone and in person.

“He’s been bitten, but he’s never been attacked to the point I’ve had to take him to the emergency room. All in all, there’s been 19 incident reports for my son…12 of them being bites. They did take care of that, they moved him to a different class and everything was going great until this happened,” Stewart recounted.

The daycare offered a tight-lipped response to FOX10 News: “This is an ongoing investigation being held by DHR and local police. We are all looking for answers but please respect that no statements or comments will be given until the investigation is complete.”

Research from PubMed indicates that injury rates in childcare settings range from 0.255.31 per 100,000 child hours, which aligns with injury rates in schools, playgrounds, and summer camps.
