The position of doctor associates is ‘deceptive’ to the general public as they don’t seem to be certified docs, a coroner has warned.
Dr Karen Henderson issued her alert after the demise of Pamela Marking, 77, whose household had been beneath the impression she had been seen by a health care provider and never a doctor affiliate (PA) with far much less coaching.

An inquest in December heard Ms Marking was at first discharged with no ‘medical overview or direct medical supervision’.
She needed to be re-admitted to East Surrey Hospital two days later with ‘grossly dilated small bowel obstruction’. Ms Marking underwent surgical procedure however died inside 48 hours following points together with her anaesthetic. Dr Henderson, Surrey Assistant Coroner, mentioned these occasions ‘materially contributed to her demise’.
