The Hughes Hearth, which was first reported on Wednesday morning, is situated within the unincorporated neighborhood of Castaic in northwestern Los Angeles County. 

As of 1:15 p.m. native time, the fireplace was 0% contained and had burned over 5,000 acres.

The brand new fireplace comes amid a lethal wildfire season within the Golden State, as firefighters have battled damaging Southern California blazes for weeks. 

The Pacific Palisades fireplace, which started on Jan. 7, continues to be burning and has claimed not less than 11 lives and over 6,500 buildings.
