Brian Thompson’s suspected killer was captured smiling on camera after removing his mask during a flirtatious exchange with a hostel worker, it has emerged.

Surveillance images of the hooded man were circulated by the NYPD earlier today – and new details reveal what led to him pulling down his mask.

He booked into a four-person room at the HI New York City hostel on the Upper West Side and was told by the clerk “Let me see your face” in what has been described as a “flirty” moment.

John Miller, CNN’s chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst, revealed on Thursday night: “He’s assigned to a room where he has these two roommates – so it’s a room for four but he’s the third person there. He talks to the clerk at the desk and they are chatting back-and-forth. She is kind of having a flirty moment and says ‘Let me see your face – take down your mask.’ And he lowers the mask and gives that big smile.”

The suspected assassin used a fake New Jersey driving license to check into a hostel after traveling to New York by bus from Atlanta, police say.
