Driver who had a stroke wins $13 million after cops accused her of being drunk

A New Jersey driver has been awarded practically $13 million after she was arrested by a state trooper who accused her of being drunk when she was truly having a stroke.

Cheryl Lynn Rhines, 57, was pulled over on in October, 2017, whereas driving from her residence in Jersey Metropolis to work in Florham Park, in line with a lawsuit she filed towards the NJ State Police, which was obtained by NJ.com.

A trooper claimed she was “enjoying video games” and arrested her after she was discovered coated in vomit. The lawsuit stated she had drooping eyelids and solely answered “sure” or “no” to police questioning.

Rhines was affected by facial drooping, a stroke symptom that includes the shortcoming to regulate physique and motor capabilities.

The lawsuit accused the trooper of failing to note her situation, delaying her medical therapy.

Rhines was initially slated to obtain $19.1 million however her settlement was decreased to about $12.9 due to her pre-existing situation, NJ.com reported.
