Experts fear cops got vital evidence wrong in UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting
Police may have wrongly identified the height of the chief suspect in Brian Thompson’s murder, according to a behavioral expert.
As the search for the gunman who fatally shot the UnitedHealthcare CEO continues, Dr. Susan Constantine, who also works as a forensic consultant, has weighed in.
NYPD officials have described the shooter as a light-skinned, skinny male who is approximately 6-foot-1. He is said to have been wearing a ski mask, a light brown or cream hoodie, black and white sneakers, and a distinctive gray backpack on the morning of the murder.
After analyzing the surveillance footage, Dr. Constantine suggests the suspect has a slight build.
She estimates the alleged gunman’s height to be closer to 5-foot-9, almost four inches shorter than what police have indicated.
Furthermore, Dr. Constantine believes the suspected gunman has smaller feet, likely in the men’s size 9 range.
She noted the suspected gunman seemed to be on the slender side and deduced from his smile that he was likely quite charming.
“This guy is younger, in his twenties and in good physical condition – he’s trim, lean, athletic, he’s also a charismatic guy,” she said. “People like to be around him, you see that in his smile, it’s a genuine smile.”
On Thursday, police released new images showing the alleged shooter flashing a broad smile.
The suspect appears to be wearing the same outfit as seen in the chilling surveillance footage where he guns down Thompson, aged 50. In the video, the masked gunman fires multiple shots from a distance before fleeing through the Ziegfeld alleyway and escaping on a bike.
While officials have remained tight-lipped about the shooter’s race, merely mentioning his “light skin,” Dr. Constantine observed that his facial features could hint at his ethnic background.
“It’s interesting to look at his nose structure, it’s bulbous at the end, he’s from some Latin ethnic background, not a white male. He looks like he’s someone of a different descent, maybe Italian.”
“He has good bone structure, he’s a very handsome guy. Very identifiable,” she pointed out.
